Are you a big CD buyer? Or an iTMS downloader? I’ve found myself dabbling in both worlds, but I tend to stick to the CD’s. I’m attracted to the packaging of a record, if you don’t have the new Tool album, get it. The packaging is amazing; it even comes with some 3D glasses. Anyway, back to my new additions to my collection.
Artic Monkeys – Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not
England’s latest rock export, these four young lads from Sheffield have sure burst onto the scene in the last year. This album has been put up there amongst Radiohead and The Beatles, also been ranked #4 in UK’s best albums as it also debut at number 1. Not bad for their first album.
Kanye West – Late Registration
It was an eventful 2005 for this man, accusing George W. Bush of hating black people after Hurricane Katrina hit St. Lois. Releasing an amazing album which was praised by Rolling Stone magazine as their album of the year. I’m happy with this purchase as it is a great album to listen to and even dance too.
José González – Veneer
With a name like this you would think this guy is Spanish or Mexican, but no Jose is from Sweden. I love telling people this when I talk about him. You have probably heard a song of his, if you have seen the brilliant Sony advert for their Bravia products. You know, the one with all those bouncy balls, going down the streets everywhere. Well that’s how I heard of him. His songs are very beautiful, it is just Jose and his guitar, really great.
Snow Patrol – Eyes Open
For some reason, I thought this band was from Australia, I don’t know why, but I was wrong. They are from Ireland; this purchase was what I like to call a guesstimation purchase. My reason for this is that this is a band that I really don’t know much about; hence I thinking that they were an Australian band. And what I do with these guesstimations is that I take a chance on the band see what happens from that. Well what I can say is that I’m very pleased with this guesstimation purchase.
Josh Pyke – Feeding The Wolves
Now, Josh Pyke is defiantly an Australian, this is just an EP release that I’ve heard a lot of on Triple J (Australian youth radio station). My favourite tracks on this album would have to be Private Education and Middle Of The Hill, which he amazingly pulls of a song that does not have a chorus. Be sure to check him out if you have the chance.
